... headed for showers at a petrol station for $8 each. They were really nice and used by campground guest next door. Feeling refreshed we walked to the Totem Inn for a few drinks before dinner. It was our last meal together which was a strange feeling as the days had passed so quickly and it didn't seem like we should be Anchorage bound tomorrow. Dinner was nice and all to soon we were heading back to camp ready for bed.
Valdez, Alaska, United States usa2009aswm... on immediately and that is where we were for the next 5 (yes FIVE hours). We had no phone service where we were now so all we could do is depend on others. We were headed up the mountain and quite an incline. Thankfully someone stopped and asked if we needed help. They gave up their time and went back down to Valdez with our Good Sam's Emergency Road Service card and arranged to have tow service and everything for us. It was about 1 1/2 hrs later that ...
valdez, United States schroederd... we are ready to go. I mean everything so slow and then all of a sudden run and hurry. Glen had arranged for us to go on a friend's boat. The day is beautiful and sunny. We head out and get to the narrows, This is what they call the narrowest area of water before reaching Prince William Sound. The narrows are 2 miles wide, but it doesn't look near that wide. When we reached the narrows, it got very foggy. Harvey, the friend that was taking us out, said it ...
Valdez, Alaska, United States schroederd... When we got to our RV Park, and I was checking in, the got a call in the office that the "Circus, Circus" was broke down and needed to be towed in. The "Circus, Circus" is the name of the Ogle's boat, so that wasn't good news. Will get with them tomorrow and see what happened. We will be here a week and hope to take the Glacier tour on Lu-Lu-Belle. Many pretty pictures today.

Till tomorrow
Diane
Valdez, Alaska, United States schroederd... br> Ate at The Harbor Café—shrimp & halibut baskets (not very good; heavy coating and cooked too much—good coated fries).

Drove Valdez Glacier Road to end; could see only the toe that comes down to the water. Good view of the higher Camicia Glacier.

Spent a long time at the Crooked Creek Chugach Visitor Center talking to Kelsey and Kody ...
Valdez, Alaska, United States ranloAgain today we had amazing sights as we sailed through College Fjord. We had another ranger over the loud speakers pointing out okras, sea otters, and of course more glaciers. We passed Valdez on the way in and he was describing a lot about the Exxon Valdez oil spill since we just passed the 20 year anniversary. The sea otters luckily were not too impacted by it, but Puffins and the fish obviously were ...
Valdez, Alaska, United States kwrona... day, once again. As many of you know Valdez is where the giant oil spill occurred back in the 80's. While the oil didn't mess up the city's shoreline, it wreaked havoc on the coastline down stream. More on that later. So... back to breakfast at B&B which was made for us by Diane, who was very knowledgeable about Alaska etc.... She was orginally from New Jersey, transplanted to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and retired to ...
Valdez, Alaska, United States cincy... a more than adequate haul of 9 sizeable silver salmon, Kirilee and I catching four of them. Fishing is fishing I guess so there's not much more to say... after a few 'prized catch' pictures, it was amazing watching Jim filet the fish for us and from the four silvers we caught, we ended up with 14 pounds of prime Alaskan salmon fillets. Within an hour of arriving back at port, K and I were sitting at a booth at a restaurant in a local inn as the largest of our ...
Valdez, Alaska, United States mattersdorff... lions grabbing fish there as well. Farther up the road, in another area where the salmon migrate to, we found the black bear that has been coming down to eat the fish. After watching for a while we finally made our way back to the trailer to get ready for our trip out on the sound tomorrow. We are hoping the blue skies tonight are a good omen for the weather tomorrow.
Valdez, Alaska, United States eagle46... and Rick worked hard to winch this thing up, it caused a little excitement amongst the fishing crew as to what or how big this wonder from the 120ft depth could be! As it came into view the skipper said, "It is a skate" the rest of the fisher persons then lost interest and went back to their own rods, The Skate was apparently of NO interest, and as soon as it was pulled in close enough Dave cut the hook out and let it go! Well Rick had no care factor, he had caught a fish and done ...
