... incredibly hot the time we arrived in the late afternoon.) We had a stroll here and went to two major spot's J.K Kennedy's stone and the tomb of the unknown solider. This spot was pretty incredible and a nice memorial. It is guarded 24 hours a day (which we were both a little shocked about.) I found 2 workshops - one is an all day batik class & the other is a 3hr jewelry class. With both classes, you bring home a beautiful piece of Bali. ... finally get brunch, which was all the more delicious because those pancakes tasted of victory. A personal culinary victory we can all appreciate. The brunch underdogs finally conquering NYC brunch.

... whole day! Because, it is not only about portraits, it is about the American history! So interesting.

There was also a little "music portrait" exhibition, with video's of Michael Jackson's Thriller, and, so "cute", John Travolta dancing "saturday night fever". I wonder what he thinks when he sees himself like that ;-)

My favorite portrait? René Bouché painting Leonard Bernstein. I made a picture, but found it also on the internet...

... photography all pretty impressive. We then went and got some yes Philadelphia water ice and sat on a bench in the National Mall. I wandered across to the Smithsonian Castle for a look see and then we headed back to the car. By now it was already 5.30pm.
