... we were on the tour boat on our way. It holds about 30 folks and it was full. It took a while for us to get to the area where the whales were. We met some folks on the boat that were also from Mesa, We told them we lived in Thunder Mtn., and of course we got the normal, "Oh do you know our good friends the Schaus'?" Sometimes, you just can't get away.

After lunch we went to the Lopez Island Vineyards tasting room where we tasted four wines. After the tasting we had a bit of free time where I discovered a local bakery and tried out two of the pastries.

... centre Francescsa completed her Junior Ranger course (and has the badge to prove it!) We also walked down to Grandma's Cove to try and spot one of the Bald Eagles that frequent the area. We were lucky enough to see one as well!

We then carried on driving to the southern most point and saw the lighthouse. We then drove back up to Friday Harbour to catch the ferry.

... Italian and Mediterrean Garden plus lots of other spaces. They had so many tuberous begonias of every color and we stopped and asked one of the gardeners if they dug those up every fall and he said they did. They also had a lot of dahlias and one of the gardeners told me that it takes about a month each fall to dig all the plants and store them. I did not want to leave this place.
