... river and providing wonderful views of the glaciers.

Later that day, we were blessed to experience the luxury of The Fairmont Hotel, Lake Louise.
The view from our room was just like all the travel brochures we had seen. We really enjoyed a very slow walk around half the lake before our meal and a very nice (not too expensive) Okanagan Valley Merlot.

On Tuesday 16th Sep we left Edmonton and began the 4hr journey to Jasper National Park. We had a quick breakfast at Extreme Pita then hit the road. The weather was beautiful so it was a pretty good road trip. When we reached the park we had to get a permit before entering then our first stop was the hot springs. We got our first taste of national park wildlife with some mountain goats just chilling on a bridge by the river. When we got to the springs ...

... Springs at night and not to be discouraged by the fat tourists jollily floating about. We took this sign barren, winding road seemingly to no where but after 20km came upon a booming parking lot of hundreds of cars and lineup to get in. Those damn brochures fooled me into thinking Rob and I would be lovingly staring into each others eyes as moonlight kissed upon our personal hot spring pool. Instead, there was a line up 75 long, 4 pools filled to the brim, and ...

We left Banff around 8.00 am to travel the Icefields Parkway. It is described as "The Most Beautiful Road in the World". It is 291 kms from Banff to Jasper. The Icefields Parkway is named for the series of glaciers lining the route. Today we are not going into Lake Louise as we are staying there on our way back down the Highway. Our stops along the Parkway were: Crowfoot Glacier and Bow Lake. A century ago, there were three "toes" of ice on ...
