    ... bear spotting country but we went to Australia and never saw a kangaroo. We stopped in Jasper on the way back to the hotel to get some milk and by the car door I saw a bundle of leaflets in the gutter which someone had obviously dropped. Graham was disgusted when I picked up these dirty old leaflets but I recognised that they were the brochures of the company that does the trips for the glacier adventure and the new glacier skywalk ...

    ... for tea and wolfed that down. As we were finishing the last mouthful, Chelle looked up and excitedly exclaimed "Tim!" and I turned to see a herd of elk just a few feet from the van!! They were just passing through, grazing as they went. We could have touched them from the driver’s seat!     ... enough to actually dip a toe in. He assured me it was warm but already being freezing beano and I didn't fancy it. We went further back down stream to the canyon for a bit of lunch and to see the river. Beano was most excited as a few chipmunks were hanging round while we ate lunch.     ... till the hall light comes on. A man opens the door, asks us if we are the bikers. We say yes. then he tells us he is a guest too, and that he is sorry he locked the door on us. I wonder, What kind of person feels so threatened that they check and lock the doors of other peoples homes? How far different that Lee and I who trust everyone, by leaving our helmets, jackets and even out key on our bikes.

    ... they called the manager, who called the boss, who did the sensible thing and called an electrician. Seemed that somebody had been re-wiring the hot tub that morning. Oh dear. His day is not turning out well.
