Lovely drive from Springfield to Stockbridge, enjoying autumn colours and even managed to walk the Appalachian Trail. Long and hard as the trail is, we managed it in record time. Then we went to the Norman Rockwell Museum. This is not the Springfield of Simpsons fame, but it is the Springfield of the home of Basketball and there is a museum to prove it. Graeme woke up like a kid heading off to Disneyland. ... not sure why these small towns exist. We are here because they have a motel - admittedly it is not in the town, if you can call it a town centre. However next to the motel there is a Yankee Candle - it is huge - a candle, Christmas, homeware store - they give you a map to find your way around. They even have a restaurant and that is where we had diner - it was great food - they had jazz musicians - and we even received a candle - what more could you want. Mileage: 165 ...
