After a late breakfast, we set out to paddle further downstream from F&C's place. Along the way, we saw a river otter, Fred the Bald Eagle, several ducks, and lots more fish. Before putting in, F and the girls flushed 7 grouse that were hanging out riverside. It was a lovely sunny day, with a nice breeze at our backs. That was until E started getting bored/cranky. ...

C made her legendary oatmeal for breakfast. I loved it and I am not even a big oatmeal fan. E was being persnickety and ate cereal instead. The sky was mostly cloudy but free of the smoke that had been obscuring all the views for the past several days. There were even a few sprinkles now and again, but no sustained rainfall.

But before that, F and I went to clear the grasses from the trail leading from the road to the river. When we got back, we rounded up everyone and headed to the put in site. We had a lovely paddle down the ...

Noxon is about 50 miles west of Sandpoint Idaho up the Clark Fork River in Western Montana.

Not much there and we drove another 10 miles north up the Bull River on Hwy 56 to find the yellow newspaper box on the post ...

Day 30: Lookout Tower hike

We attempted to sleep in, but Maya had other plans – she woke us up every hour from 4:30 on. We finally got up and let her out around 7:30. C was making us some awesome Huckleberry pancakes for breakfast. E is so weird – she just picked out the berries from hers. But A ate a bunch of pancakes, as did D. ;-)

We packed up sandwich wraps, and set off on a hike. We had planned to go pick huckleberries and hike over to the old ...
