Hill country

A travel blog entry by glenn.porter

This is a top pick!

Not so much geographically, today was actually a pretty mild day in terms of hills, but hill country is more than geography. It's a mentality. Two examples from today.

A) Rob and I walked into a roadside diner just before it opened for lunch around noon. Two gentlemen sitting at the bar, one behind the bar. While the place was completely dark, these three were chatting as if it were last call, and warmly invited us in. They had no food yet, thus no reason ...

Another stateline, into lawless Montana

This is a top pick!

In the last ten minutes I have personally witnessed a hawk leaving a tree to dive into the lake at which we are camped looking for fish, and heard two gunshots at somewhat close range. The next day, we bought new trailer tires and later in the evening, finally made it to Yellowstone. Talk about beauty - it's almost too much for the senses. Especially after Butte!

Please check out our next blog entry for all the details on our fabulous time at America's first National Park.

Loopin Past Canada

... We dropped down to a boat luanching area that had huge open swaths of gravel beach. The camping spots were just up the hill from these. It was open camping with no trees over us. It was a stunning view. Also, it was a sunny amazing day with warm temps. Shima and I walked down the little rock hill to the water and I played fetch with her for a bit. Also....I must admit it had been another few days since I was able to shower and clean ...
