Ché and bus-etiquette in the city of Passion

... buss is driving and sverwing at the spead of light.
The daily life for the porteños are shopping, solving the worlds problems over ún café cortado and dance tango. I have been staying away from the shopping but I have explored the city from Boca in the south to fancy Ricoletta in the north. Everyone told me to stay away from la Boca (yes that is the La Boca from where the Argentin soccer team got it´s name), because it was seedy ...

Its Not the Destination...It's the Journey

... to me that they didnt allow dogs. We shouted around in circles for a while. I was getting really annoyed.

What a way to enter the city and what a let-down. It took a while, with me insisting that this is their problem and not mine - I didn't write "pets welcome" on their web site so they could either check me into my room or quickly find me a hotel and pay for it. After 45 minutes and a few phone calls to the ...

From London to Buenos Aires

... hearing I think Bolivia is my preference but we´ll see. I´m totally getting a taste for what life is gonna be like over the next couple of months and I´m sure there are gonna be great experiences and not so great, especially as most of my travel will be sat 20 or so hours on a bus!! There don´t seem to be many single women travellers but there are plenty of guys going round on their own and everyone so far seems to have the same mentality.
<br ...

Buenos Dias from Buenos Aires

... herself as Mim, a photographer from South Wales who was in Argentina to take photos of Patagonia's Welsh communities. All of us newcomers to Buenos Aires, Scott, PT, Vidim, Mim and myself decided we would meet later that day for dinner. Following dinner and our introduction to Quilmes, the staple Argentinian beer, we walked through the leafy suburbs of Palermo and Recoleta to what appeared to be a small park by the main road with a lagoon behind it. Buenos Aires was still ...

#12: Camera, karma and the usual mental trauma

... a critical connection to memories and a vital link to all those sadly not present - whilst the camera, meanwhile, was just an electronic order in Amazon.com's systems some 7,000km away. So, altogether now, what am I?

After a customarily heavy beverage pit-stop in Buenos Aires again ( to drown sorrows, obviously), my next destination was New York. Yes, this was also unorthodox, but more of that in the next entry. Let's just hope I can remember it.

Delightfully Overwhelmed

... neighborhood (which consequently, I LOVE!) and get to know the people and culture. I also had the opportunity to meet a small part of my host mother's family which was extremely cool! On Tuesday the 17th I officially began my program orientation. There are around 170 people in my program, many of whom I met, and many of whom seem very nice. The orientation lasts 2ish weeks and consists of spanish classes, expectations, history, culture, classes, health etc, etc... For me the ...

El Ano Nuevo con Los Amigos

... with us. As we downed bottles of Quilmes, Baby Bro threw some luscious steaks on the Parilla and we soon feasted on juicy steaks, fresh Noquis Casero Con EB's Tuco, Ensalada, Queso , Bread and Olives. We lingered over the fantastic dinner for a few hours until we heard another knock on our door and opened it to find David and matt with some Aussie friends , Lucien and Carrie, in tow. We popped a few bottles of wine and chatted about both important world issues and ridiculous ...

Fabulous Buenos Aires

... we got to Recoleta safely. Whereas San Telmo is quaint and colourful, Recoleta is grand, stately and oozes an air of prestige. Our first stop was the Recoleta cemetery where many famous Argentines (yes, including Evita Peron) are buried. The cemetery is just awesome. It's a huge maze of grand mausoleums and chapels that are decorated with impressive statues and busts in stone and bronze. Compared to some of the other mausoleums, I thought Evita's tomb was like a ...
