Route 66 has been decommissioned so a lot of it is on freeways and once in a while you see signs for "Historic Route 66" where you have to turn off and take parts of the old road. We are tired of the LA traffic so we head to Barstow without turning off some of the road.

Barstow is a small town, there is a section where it is ol skool Americana. Kinda like the older side of Vegas, some motels still have signage ...

We left Ventura early, drove through my old stomping grounds in the San Fernando Valley to San Bernadino and took I-15 north. It was very windy and rainy over Cajon pass.
