We then chilled out by the waterside. I ate a caramel, choc coated Nanaimo bar. Then who would walk by, but Kate, Dan's friend from his training. He knows one person on the island and we happened to bump into her! Not long after that it was time to fly home and Dan to Vancouver. Was an excellent weekend. We squeezed every moment possible out of the days. I would like to go back to the Island, maybe to Nanaimo, or Tofino.

... on our trip. We both agree we will be back. I still don't think I will ever get over the self flushing toilets (they just don't work!) or the fact that these people have no such thing as spray on deoderant. We look forward to saying goodbye to tipping in a few weeks but both agree we will look forward to another visit in the near (ish) future.

... British Columbia happened. 'When it rains here, it just rains,' the locals told me as I hopped from boutique to boutique, opening and closing my little pink umbrella. So true. The rain continued until late afternoon and by then the whale watching cruises were over for the day. Oh well. Back to the hostel to enjoy some weirdos!

We had a relaxing morning at home and began carving our NZ pumpkin. We had heaps of fun cutting the top out of it and digging all the guts out. Sarah was the lucky one who got to separated the seeds from all the gunk so we could roast them later.
