... wanted to help the community and he encouraged everyone to keep their old shops etc and now they have a historical town that is full of tourists. We had lunch here and I had Mexican served by a Mexican at a recreated pub.

... salmon running up stream to spawn. Lunch in Ketchikan in a lodge overlooking the harbour with 4 cruise ships tied up to the wharf. Then just walked around the town. Maria and one of the ladies from the ferry visited a brothel in the old red light district while Mick watched fisher people catch salmon from a bridge over a creek that rains up through the town. It was nice having 2 nights to rest up. We saw the Oregon Gardens and Silver Falls State Parks. Very wooded, cool and the Falls were pretty. Not as high as Yosemite, but they flow over volcanic ledges...very interesting. Reminds me of Burney Falls out of Lassen Park.

We had to go thru 2 major cities today. Portland and then Seattle ...with traffic, but we hit them at a good ...

... 1 ship ever got to the beach, and they were not even certain if it was a Japanese one, or just an ordinary fishing boat.

Today I've seen the most beautiful pieces of nature of the trip so far. I loved Mt. Erie and Deception Pass in particular. I can appreciate Rosario Beach, but it's nowhere near the other two 'attractions'.

We got back around 5.. I was extremely tired again, but it didn't matter to me. I loved our trip today.

On to the next one...
