... last night as we made camp. On a bike it feels like you're in a much smaller world and that when you're in a backcountry area with very little infrastructure you truly feel "miles from nowhere." ... the kids' enjoyment. They love to watch their videos and this will give them lots of video to watch.

So thanks for tuning in! We are excited about this adventure and seeing all the exciting sights (I guess some sights will be boring also, but let us not dwell on that possibility. Who knows how good or bad we will be at blogging, but hopefully we will do a fairly good job at keeping everyone posted on our travels.

... to cover the last few miles in darkness on the Interstate. A planned stop in Charlottesville was unfortunately not possible as it was Varsity football night and all the once-cheap motels were very expensive and full with no other option, we had to drive on to Richmond and spend the night in a terrible full motel in a smoking room - but these are the things that make a road trip!

... China’s history and culture that I will be able to pass to my students in the fall.

As far as I know, TravelPod is not one of the blocked websites in China so I will do my best to blog each evening (morning for you all) as long as I am not too tired from the day's activities!
