Different country, different language, different people and it felt like home. After long days exploring Florence, we could not wait to get back to the comforts of La Limonaia. Giulio has an amazing host who went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable.

Our time with Giulio in Florence was the highlight of our trip. We can't wait to get back to Italy and La Limonaia.

Highly recommended!

I found La Limonaia online and have to say that I couldn't have been happier with this charming little B&B just outside of Florence. Even though we were there all alone in the off-season and it was raining and cold for most of the days we spent in Tuscany, La Limonaia was a true bright spot in the otherwise dreary weather. I understand now why there is an off-season! But I had just finished covering the Winter Olympics and decided an extra 10 days touring Italy was much needed. Giulio (the owner and breakfast king!) couldn't have been nicer, drawing up maps, letting us borrow guidebooks and laying out itineraries for us each day as well as cooking up wonderful breakfasts. He was truly one of the friendliest persons I met in Italy. The rooms were beautiful and have that country Tuscan feel to them and you can still see central Florence from the garden. Unfortunately the garden was still dormant while we were there but I can only imagine what it's like during the spring and summer. Waking up every morning to distant church bells and roosters crowing completed the experience, I can't really say enough about La Limonaia, it was the best place we stayed in Italy (even beating a five star hotel in Vencie hands down). If you're looking for a place close to Florence with easy access to Siena and the rest of Tuscany, look no further. Say hi to Giulio for me!

Perfect Tuscan B&B

If you want the perfect Tuscan B&B for an incredible stay in the hillside on the outskirts of Florence, La Limonia is a dream come true. Hidden 10 minutes outside of Florence in Bagno a Ripoli, La Limonia allows you the tranquility and hospitality unlike anywhere I have visited. The main house is rustic and welcoming, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. The place is extremely clean and well-kept. The views were spectacular.

Our host, Julio, is likely the nicest person that I met during our entire trip across Italy. He provided suggestions for day trips, restaurants and anything else Italian. His English is good and his demeanor welcoming and charming. He wrangled up a great breakfast each morning - a welcome addition in a country that has expensive food! Essentially, he invited us into their home, and such warmth translated into every detail of the place.

I would recommend La Limonia for anyone traveling to the region of Tuscany. It is outside of the bustle of the city yet is still conveniently located to many destinations if you have a car - just 40 minutes from Siena. I was so relaxed and happy after my visit. Stay here!

Peaceful Surroundings

Guillio made us feel really welcome and had lots of information about the area. The breakfast was great. We loved the big well appointed room that we had near the breakfast kitchen. The location was excellent for exploring the rest of Tuscany and was also handy for travelling into Florence centre. Highly recommended and we would definetly return.

A Rare find!!!

My husband and I do allot of travelling in Italy due to our work. We often arrive exhausted, irratable and difficult to please.

Giulio not only prepared us the BEST breakfast I have had in all the five years I have been living in Italy (an omelette to die for)... he also very kind and accommodating. You may think that a good breakfast is no big deal, but try getting a good old english breakfast in most of italy, take it from me it's not easy.

They are a lovely couple and the hotel is comfortable, cute and clean... and be sure to ask for suggestions for restaurants... following one of their recommendations we had a gorgeous meal.

In Italy sometimes it's difficult to find space to breathe, a little quiet, warm hospitality and value for money.... La Limonaia combines all.

Galileo's Garden

My wife and I were privileged to spend a few days of our honeymoon in this wonderful spot. The home itself was of unusual beauty even for Tuscany, and its history was fascinating. Located within walking distance of a nice little village which has all the conveniences needed, it is also quick and easy to get Florence by bus. The room is simple and elegant. The charm of a perfectly appointed villa with your own clean bedroom and bathroom unspoiled by a television or any such modern non- necessity was one of our favorite things about this B&B. While it was easy to get where we wanted to go, where to go is something we and most uneducated tourists need. Our interest in traveling abroad was to taste the substance of Italy and to wallow unfamiliarly in the culture which was so beautiful in its differences to our own. When you wish to be treated to the fine food, wine, art, history, and local culture of this country- your host Giulio (the owner of La Limonia) is the most treasured asset a traveler can have. He invites you into his home as if you are family that has been away a long time; he knows you deserve the best, but may not know how to find it. We have not in our entire tour of Italy met someone so friendly, knowledgeable, honest, and generous with his help as Giulio and Christina. We have already recommended this Bed and Breakfast to every friend and family member who are interested in a trip to Italy. We now do so to anyone who visits this page

Loved the atmosphere and surroundings

We celebrated our Honeymoon in Italy. Staying at the Limonaia was an excellent choice. The location, the view of Florence, the surroundings hills, and the great hospitality provided by Guilio made our stay unforgetable. We will never forget the breakfast, the outings accompanied by Guilio, and the recommendations to local attractions provided by Guilio and his wife. If you are looking for a relaxing place with a taste of Tuscany, away from the city, but close to home, this is it! We cannot wait to go back. The location provides easy access to Florence and other cities. We used La Limonaia as our base and travelled to Bologna, Florence, and Pisa. Go for it, you will be happy with this choice

A special experience

We stayed at La Limonaia in mid-September of 2005. Giulio could not be more charming or more accomodating as he knows everything about the entire area! (not only what to see and do, but special events that are current to the time you are there.)Giulio's breakfasts were outstanding and the room was charming, clean and comfortable. It was a most delightful visit. Thank you, Giulio!!!
