... countryside we´d driven through made me wish we had more time to explore the country properly but we had other eggs to scramble on the list, and we were here to transit only.We checked into a hotel called Villa Florencia, all walls lined with razor wire and a metal gate with a guy on the door who could have quite happily picked me up with one arm. But he was smiley, like a big happy gorilla, and waved the gringos inside to a room high up in the courtyard with stained glass windows ...
San Salvador, San Salvador, El Salvador alberto66... We also saw Jesus in the clouds, not literally, but we were quite thankful for the clouds that kept us a little bit cooler.
Some of the funnier moments of our day included learning how to suck on a 't' bag, Roger crawling out the window of the van ... which if you've seen Roger, you'll know it was entertaining! We also found out that one of our leaders (who is supposed to be in charge of us) doesn't know one word of ...
... charged $12 USD for the night.
That evening whilst chatting to a Canadian couple in the bar I found out that the reason most coach lines don't run at night is because they are not paying the gangs protection money and thus the bus drivers are liable to be shot at night whilst driving the bus. It seems that most of the violent gangs that formed in California many years ago were deported by the US back to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. On the whole they ...
... the health promoter/nurse) in doing the entire exam. I was nervous, because there was more bleeding from this woman than from the one who we visited last week. Morena is going to follow-up with her tomorrow and then potentially send her to the clinic.
-When saying goodbye to Morena (the health promoter/nurse in Las Delicias), she actually started to cry and said that she hopes I come back. I spent a lot of time with her during my stay here ...
... manners of female anatomical pleasures. Yes, San Salvadorans (assuming they understand English) were learning that women from the American 'hood take it in three different orifices according to the lyrics. If this song is any indication, I now know how so many of these well-mannered, educated and just all-around delightful young women end up on the Maury Show ten times each looking for their baby daddies.
Oh what an fantastic adventure being a thug or ...

Today, my first official day in El Salvador was fantastic! Most of the children in my family are going to a new school this year, which is about a 25 minute bus ride from the house. So, at 6 this morning we left to take them to school. They definitely need to be escorted by more than one person I think, because just walking down one of the streets to the school, every other wall was graffitied with "MS" and "Salvatrucha" which represents the gangs in ...
... when things were actually getting going (err, that´s the way everything is here), I met a really great guy named Jose Maria Peres, and we spent much of the day together. After awhile things finally started moving with the socialist groups leading the way and the ridiculously destructive anarchists at the rear. Now, I had some pretty high expectations. I was expecting at least a pretty awesome day, but the stuff I saw yesterday morning was just nuts ...
San Salvador, El Salvador jaynichvolodov... medium rare. The next night I wasn't very hungry and saw that they had ceviche on the menu - something I love! Usually it is listed as Ceviche de Pescado (fish) or Ceviche de Camarones (shrimp). For the uninitiated, ceviche is raw fish marinated in lime juice and herbs. What they had was Ceviche de Escabeches - a new one for me so I asked the traditionally dressed ...
Suchitoto, El Salvador margreet98Friendly El salvador When i heard El salvador is known for the friendliest people in central america, i never understood how friendly they really are... Today i went looking for something that resembles waterfalls during the rainy season, sinces its the dry season its more of cool shapped rocks with some water trickling down. These are suposed to be one of the main natural attractions in the area ...
Suchitoto, El Salvador senorbrian... a pretty hard time. As a friend of mine said yesterday (and you know who you are), maybe this is when I need to be alone the most. I decided to come here. Nobody made me do this. Maybe I came here to meet myself. That is the hardest road to travel... Abe Lincoln said something about (did I say this already?) being gentle with yourself. So that is what I am trying to do. I came also to learn about the cultures down ...
