... Surrounded by the intricate cake like laciness of marble sculpture we walked across the rooftops between the turrets. We took many more photos. After realising that time was now getting short we then rushed down to the stairs, caught the metro back the 4 stops to the Hotel Maddison and walked to 300m to the train station - that's why we booked accommodation close to the station! In time for a late dinner in the restaurant next to the Ibis hotel we stayed at, and ...

That left us time to walk down to the quay, have a drink at a cafe popular with the local sparrows, and wend our way to a delightful restaurant round the corner from the hotel. A short walk along the lakeside helped us to digest it all, before finishing with a bottle of wine watching the busy Saturday nightlife from our room's ...

... space) and different levels of scaffolding all over the place. I asked a worker what's the deal with the construction zone and he said they are preparing for The World Expo in 2015! There is armed security at every entrance (Italian Army) and they've been stationed there as a result of 911.

Lunch was at a swanky cafe filled with elegant Milanese having coffee, lunch and pastries. I felt like a country bumpkin in my shorts and t-shirt but they ...
