... named one of the special spots on the island, but the beach there was quite small and crowded and nowhere as good as Kalapaki. There were some very large homes there suggesting that it may be a place chosen by wealthy retirees. The local people are very friendly and we are feeling relaxed and looking forward to a boat trip with Tom and Helen tomorrow to see the Na Pali Coast, which cannot be accessed by ...

The old down town is kind of run down with many places in need of repair. But there is a kind of renaissance going on with a lot of art galleries and other stores featuring a lot of local arts and crafts. Jason and Travis had both noticed me having a hard time and had debated whether one of them needed to paddle back out and check on me. I was glad they didn't ...

... three separate occasions. He showed me many pictures from my last trip and gave me a ton of ideas of where to visit when I head to Indonesia. It was easy to tell how enchanted he is with Indo just by his excitement for the trip I have ahead!

Overall, it was a great day catching up with a great friend, learning about and seeing more of this beautiful island, and witnessing some amazing surfing!
