    ... had thought we would be touring facilities - but nope, traditional Italian lunch it is. Lukka was very friendly and knowledgeable about both Italy and the AC Milan techniques that interest Conor so much. For lunch we had pumpkin raviolli with hazelnuts and some meat with polenta (I ate as many bites of meat as I felt was necessary to not seem rude...it tasted like I remember meat, but wasn't that exciting).     Museum at Academia for a bit of culture- lots of painting of last supper that were rescued(?) from churches in town. Some really old 14c stuff and some more recent restored items. Amazing brushwork and huge alter pieces some with bible stories that were new to me. Spent arvo wandering lanes and canals. Pizza at same restaurant. ...

    ... is usually booked up for two months in advance! We showed up anyway and there were no ticket salespeople in sight. So we won't be seeing the last supper this time! Instead, we went to the back of the monastery were there was a different Leonardo Di Vinci exhibit and decided to go there instead. We were not sure what to expect but the "museum" was a small room with some framed pages and an iPad with text explaining each page ...

    ... The views were spectacular, and on the clear day this was the Alps were beckoning me to head back north. My original intention at this stage of the trip was indeed to head further east to the dolomites, where I could trek for about two weeks but at this time of year they are annoyingly closed to tourists. For now, those beautiful mountains I could see in the distance would just have to wait.
