    TUESDAY: We had a fantastic day and really enjoyed our visit to Lake Como. It was definitely worth the drive and effort! What a truly beautiful place.

    We set out early at 8.30 in the hope to beat the heat and get a car park near the funicular railway that takes you up a very steep gradient to lovely views at the top. We had a nice time wandering around at the top and David was very taken with an old old hotel ...

    Thank you for all your comments about the blog but we haven't quite finished yet! Still about 24 hours before we'll be on our doorsteps, a whole city still to explore and at least one more blog post!     Been very busy last couple of days - just had time to catch up and I am a few days behind. We drove up to the local car ferry in Trezzamo The ferry was quick, we drove on and sat on the top deck for 10 minutes. Apparently, this is where all of Milan is on Wednesday afternoon. There were a ton of 20-somethings in bikinis (women) or just swim trunks (men) sunbathing on towels. I guess this is as close to the beach as they have here.

    When we came back to the hotel for a break, our room hadn't been done, so we went off for another walk, to decide where we'd go for dinner. While we were out, we happened across this gorgeous bakery/cafe which had amazing looking cakes in the window.
