    ... perhaps we will have better luck at Pisa tomorrow.

    On the walk back to the car we choose the city wall option as it offered lovely views and was less annoying than passing closed shops! The walls are huge and were built in the Renaissance-era, they were certainly nice to walk along.

    The sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful and so are you, Dear Lucca. Back to the train station for the shorter journey to Pisa, which took about 1/2 hour, and cost 13 euros in total for us both (return). Then established which bus to catch to get us to the 'Torre Pendente'. Should have only been a shortish ride, but missed our stop inadvertently and had to continue on the bus which returned after getting to the end of its loop. ...

    ... and biscuits. Actually whole shops just selling chocolate biscuits and fudges. I tried a slice of the chick pea pizza today which was delicious. While I was perched on my little stool in this tiny little shop jammed with wet people having a slice of pizza and a glass of vino, I started talking to an Italian lady perched next to me, and as it so happened, she lived just outside Lucca and had been in Perth in January this year ...

    ... whereas Pisa's major features were well known. Lucca is quite 'unrenovated' compared to some of the other major towns and cities in Italy. This gives it a natural charm - an old, predominantly medieval, walled city seemingly unprepared for visitors; history as it is. And I think this is the attraction of Lucca.
