Florence & Lucca Left behind our Tuscan oasis and the leisurely Sunday we had all enjoyed, we were on the bus by 7.45.....big day ahead we were warned. First to Florence, and the stop for spectacular views over the city. Kevin and I skipped the local guides walk around as we had been there before. We walked with Frederica our tour guide, and the landmarks all looked familiar again. It's a beautiful small city, but very hot in summer and apparently very cold ...

Needless to say by the time we got back towards the hotel it was an easy decision to grab some takeaway and have an early night. Exhausted but satisfied.

Friday was set in the itinerary for a day trip to Pisa but after yesterday's efforts we decided to give Lucca another try instead. Amazing the difference a good night's sleep makes. After a ...

    Riomaggiore to Levante, Manarola=5/5+1

A travel blog entry by magnel on Sep 18, 2013

The trains were noticeably rumbling overnight so it was surprising to wake to a clear morning. The plan was to catch the train to Levante to check it out. On arrival the markets were in full swing and Maggie scored two cheap linen shirts. We bought some fruit, the first figs we paid for, and mushrooms for dinner and some fried seafood treats because the latter smelt, and tasted so good. Although we didn't need it we sat for a cappuccino and Greg scored a wink from ...
