... finished, we got into formation and walked towards the gate. Many people on this trip have relatives (great, great grandfathers!) whose names are on the bridge. This makes things very personal for people and there is a definite sombreness that came over the band as we walked up. ... stopped, who were amazing. They did their act so slowly and not a ripple of muscles shown at all. They defied gravity.

We bid him farewell and returned to Spring Tide to have dinner and freshen up ready to go out and see a GREAT jazz band called “Les Haricots Rouge” who had us in fits of laughter one minute then inspiring some great dancers to the dance floor in the park.

The band were excellent ...

... office open and the machine did not accept our card! We asked someone and they said you can buy a ticket on the train. We felt rather guilty getting on a train without a ticket, but the guard (A very pleasant young lady) came along to check tickets and yes we could get one – phew! When we arrived back at Kortrijk the place was buzzing, and 1 particular street was into partying already. One pub decorated as a beach bar and another as a snow covered ...

... Kiosk, which was across the road we used their fancy desks to find a local brewery were mark very enthusiastically decided we should go next. The brewery Mark and Ross thoroughly enjoyed. They made their beer out of Gruut which is a secret herb mixer instead of hops. Mark is now planning on getting the guys at Plonk in Canberra to stock it. ... the cost of a bottle of wine, which turned out to be two bottles by the time we finished dinner. Hilbren had suggested a French Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend, and it was very smooth and a good choice. I had two cups of coffee and then walked back to the Hotel. Huub was sitting across from me, and it was great to have him there as part of the group.
