... and it was huge, but otherwise not that interesting.
Then I went to the Army Museum. I went to the WWI & WWII section first, but it was incredibly boring. It was just a bunch of uniforms and some uninteresting weapeans, mostly guns. And it took me forever just to walk through it because it was set up in a convoluted one way circuit over multiple floors.
When I finally got out of the world war dullness I went to the Armory section, which was very ...
Today we went tree climbing at Chichoune. No not the traditional tree climbing. Think of giant ladders up into the forest. Logs to step on 50 ft. In the air. Giant and long ziplines. No one to help you. Just you and your equipment that you are praying you have on straight. An obstacle course with no real solid ground. First ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France kew... dad into some sort of steady walking routine as I knew that the week ahead held plenty of exercise for my ill accustomed parentals (though I hear they are doing quite well now in Dubai!). Montpellier was very handy for this training as it is relatively small (at least the city center) and also quite picturesque with beautiful boutiques, créperies, cafés, pubs, and restaurants. There are plenty of cobblestone streets and fountains and I discover new little nooks and tiny alleyways ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France gracielastanley... trying to talk myself into APPRECIATING. I'd occasionally catch sight of Jerry striding purposefully from gallery to gallery intent on establishing a chronology and semi-defeated by understanding the art. Finally, exhausted, we sat down in front of a computer and began watching a hilarious video of film clips, mostly American, of actors answering ringing phones and then more of them of actors hanging up ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France lrandal... will have to get some copies from Daileth. I went with Sylvia, Mark, Daileth, Georgie and Geoff while Mum Cilla, Lucy and Trin went on to lunch and Notre Dame. I will be leaving Paris without seeing Notre Dame which is quite sad, I have always wanted to but it will have to wait till next time. I am so very glad that I got to go to the Louvre, it was even better than I had ever hoped or dreamed it would be, and I cant wait to ...
Paris, France coralv... tried calling the cell phone for the apartment manager here in France, but there was no answer and we only had an address for the owner in California. So as we're sitting there figuring out what to do (ring a random apartment and ask for help using our varied vocab of good morning, pardon, and some basic numbers? Start unpacking our stuff in the lobby?), someone starts coming down the stairs on the promised land side of the ...
Paris, France jasonandsarah... was our last day in Paris before we drove south towards Montpellier. Simon, Heather and I went for a walk from the apartment down to the Bastille area and wandered through the markets. We caught the train back to the apartment and cleaned up the apartment and packed our bags. Once organised we caught a series of trains over to Orly airport and picked up our rental car. We then head off into the unknown once again and I was given the map. Hear from you all soon Mick
Paris, France mja007... Everyone had their feet in the water so of course we joined them... very relaxing and refreshing hanging out with our feet out at the louvre!! We then walked to the effiel tower again and waited a few hours (so it would be dark so we can see the city lights) whilst waiting we were approached every 5 mins by women from 'bosnia who have leukemia who travelled to Paris and cannot return home as ...
Paris, France colin_tameka... mannerisms such as the way they hold the cigarette or wear the scarf wrapped around the neck would likely be perceived by an American as feminine. And then there is the man purse or pouch (which has caught on some for the metro sexuals in the U.S) which really does it in for me. I have seen one that really looked like a woman's purse---he was holding it by the straps---but everything else on him was great---cute face, dressed in a nice suit and shoes on the metro seemingly coming ...
Paris, France rikkit... school students have class, then we went out for lunch at a cute little pizzeria. The individual pizzas are huge here! We had lunch with Seg's sister and a guy named Julien (cute!) and then we did some shopping. I didn't buy anything, clothes here are really expensive! But if we end up going somewhere that sells purses, you can bet I'll spend the money! Soon, Sam and Candice are coming over so we can get ready to go clubbing! That's all for now... Cara
