I wanted to get the most out of NYC through the cheapest means possible. This means staying at a very ****** hotel, eating light, and avoiding the subway. I was amazed at these three important factors: hotel, dining, and transportation.
Open up a hotel / hostel in NYC and charge whatever you like, despite the ****** conditions! (the same condition goes to restaurants that serve putrid food at high prices) I couldn't even open ...
... buildings, the steam rising from the drains, the hotdog vendors and the yellow cabs which at peak times simply dominate the streets in terms of the number of them. One other thing I really enjoyed was the diversity of the architecture in all the buildings, there are so many amazing buildings.
On my first proper day in New York I caught a subway down to South Ferry and caught the Staten Island ferry across to of course, Staten Island. This is a free ferry ride and goes ...
... that had a full size whale in the middle of the room (a replica of course) Heaps better than the googenheim anyway and cheaper! I went on a Sex and the City tour today, that was really good, we saw heaps of places from the show and had cosmopolitans at a bar from the show, the one that aidan and steve owned for those of you who are fans, we also had cupcakes at the best cupcake store in new york, they were yummy, strolled up and down the street where ...
New York City, New York, United States sandineil... back to LAX on monday and took a cool mini-shuttle thing down to manhattan beach. i realised it was last official beach trip / sunset of my trip so that was kind of a sad moment, but on the other hand i cant think of a better place to have spent my last beach - the most gorgeous sunset in a while. my flight to NYC was made all the more exciting (!) by a sighting of bryan mcfaddon who was on the same flight (he looks the exact same in real life ...
New York City, New York, United States nikkiviper... relaxed and took some pictures. Deshane set her time to buy lunch for 1200 so we all got in line and bought the usual over-priced stadium food. Once the game started Ra'ina was already bored. Of course the stadium magically became full to the brim right before the game started and there was no room to move around. I couldn't get over how disgusting and filthy the stadium gets! I nicely stacked our food trays and placed our water ...
New York, New York, United States weckeah... relatively easy to get around on the subway or taxi. We hit all the big sights, including taking an open-top bus (actually it was freezing that day!!), the empire states building, 5th av, Macys and of course the Staten Island ferry past the Statue of Liberty.
New York City, New York, United States univ0543Took it easy this morning, bit of a lie-in and breakfast at Starbucks! Another beautiful day. Walked downtown from the hostel through Greenwich Village, Noho & Soho. Saw Ground Zero & the Financial discrict, also went to Battery Park. Tonight, headed for Brooklyn with Amanda from our trek in India. ------- We took it easy this morning and had a bit of a lie-in. We started off with a short walk downtown to the nearest Starbucks, where we found that coffee and ...
New York City, New York, United States anneowens... for the local metro lines and a subway - it makes the Manchester metrolink look like a model. There are bars and a food hall inside the main hall, which has star constellations set in the ceiling. So we sat and had a wine or two looking at the stars and talking to a group of new yorkers, one who owned a restaurant, about the merits of black puddings (no I promise I won't start getting homesick).
The touristy bits we have done so ...
... friendly Lancaster Host Resort and spent our time lounging around the pool and enjoying the resort's amenities, touring the Amish sites, and having a blast at Hershey Park. It was our fourth trip to the area and it just never seems to get old. We had a great time. In fact, we had such a great time that although we had originally planned on going for four days, on what was supposed to be our last day we wound up booking an extra night ...
