Flew to Milan from Dublin then took the train to Savona to board the cruise. Quaint little seaport town which I wish I had more time to explore. Forgot to take a picture of the ship! Not sure how I feel about a big cruise ship (3,800 passengers) but the price was right so thought I would experience it!
Savona, Italian Riviera, Italy pathenger... so we decided it was best to settle away from the centre of town for a change and park in a residential district about 1km away... much more tranquilo!!
Splashed out on take away pizza for dinner but ate it in the shop and washed down with a bottle of beer. We became the hot topic of conversation when owners and local patrons found out we were Australian and were ...
... is either way this town is the only connector to Nice where we want to go or Milan to get to Paris. We visit the ticket counter 5 times in 2 hours each time finding out new information for our situation and having to leave to pondering our next plan of attack. It becomes comical when each time we attempt to make a decision and go back to the ticket counter there is atleast one new staff person. I will have to continue this later because a lady needs this computer.
... the 11C and there aren't any Roman ruins because the Genovans needed to build somewhere so they just built on top of the old stuff! Anyways it is built on a hill and the modern part is at the top and to get there you travel over little tiny streets and even smaller alley like paths where the buildings appear to almost meet at their tops. We also saw the 16th C palaces nearing the ...

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!
Borghetto di Borbera, Piedmont, Italy martinasfamily... so forth. Upon our maiden voyage out of Munchen to Luzern (Lucerne) we quickly noticed that the city streets are shared between many forms of transportation. There are trucks, cars, scooters, bicycles, and pedestrians, along with golf carts and 4-wheelers. Anything goes. You can license anything that moves. All of this movement is sharing the road with large fast electric trains running down the center of the street. Much like our light rail ...
Santa Margherita Ligure, Italian Riviera, Italy travelingmoores... him late for work. What a great friend! We finally get out of the house at 1:00 and decide to explore the city ourselves. After getting a local map, we decide to follow the Medieval and Renaissance routes outlined on the map. The routes, however, take us past to most of the places we visited yesterday, including: Cattedrale di San Lorenzo ...
Genoa, Italy cbyung... duck for cover beneath a couple brief storms in there. In between and after were sunny skies though, so at least it wasn't all grey and wet. I made sure to track down a good trattoria to try out the local speciality: pesto. So for lunch I enjoyed a lovely dish of trofie al pesto di rucola è gorgonzola, and on top of that didn't end up spending a great deal. The restaurant was a bit haphazard on the service side, but it's ...
Genoa, Italy xerius... will continually use and update this travel blog as she studies. Tara will go to Rome, where she will meet up with a Contiki for 2 weeks, then head home to California! What an adventure this trip has been for us both, there truly are no words to explain! Keep reading to see what Hilary is up to, and if Tara gets a chance on the Contiki tour, she will be sure to chime in every now and then... if you have not noticed, she loves to chime in! Take care and God Bless!
