... finally goes down, we got involved, cringe!

Tourist attactions - Cristo Redentor, Pao de Acucar (Sugal Loaf Mountain), Escadaria Selaron all worth going to see.

Also possibly not a highlight but we got to experience the dangers of Rio de Janeiro when we saw a young boy running for his life from two men chasing him with guns. Thankfully we knew he was running in the direction of the police and no shots were fired!

... Ipanema Beach was. They are incredibly nice beaches to have right in the middle of a city. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. The tour lasted about three hours and we finished at the lake in the center of the city, which is beautiful! Our highlight of Rio was a run along the beach front to Aporador, a rocky outcrop between Copacabana and Ipanema. Drinking Caprinha's and watching the sun set. Such an amazing atmosphere with people everywhere, looking to the West and then actually clapping and applauding as the sun set. I have never seen anything like it ...

... flight to Rio! Thanks Chris and GG for a memorable…or not…send off!

We stayed in a little Pousada (aka B n B) in Ipanema a pretty suburb on the beach with heaps of cute restaurants and ritzy tourist shops. Run by Margarida who was a 70 ish granny with a heart of gold, she just wanted to fatten you up and look after you and made you feel like you were staying at your Nans house. We had read all the advice in Lonely Planet and online about the dangers in ...

... nuances. It is at that point that the puzzle comes together and you start realising just how close or far your ideas were. It's like unwrapping a big gift - as you remove each layer of wrapping paper you are filled with excitement and anxiety about whether or not you'll like what's inside. The best way to find out is to go ahead and unwrap the whole thing.... I guess that's what we're doing on this adventure - unwrapping God's gift country by ...
