          ... the beach for a late dip in the water and walk along the water before sundown came and we made our way to the hostel for a few sneaks drinks and a nice meal. The day of seeing Cristo Redentor in the flesh had finally happened and I was certainly a happy boy. That dream has been ticked off and despite not having the nicest of views from the top, it was an amazing statue and the views from our lunch table certainly was the icing on the cake. Great day.

          ... been tipped off about, which was taking place in a small park. People of all ages were there and there was a very upbeat atmosphere. Within minutes of arriving, we had had a kombucha to drink and an excellent vegetable curry to eat. In the middle of the little park is the skeleton of a derelict townhouse, which has been made safe and is now a minimalist events space. From the top, we were able to enjoy the view of the internal airport as flights took off and landed. ...

          ... as we pass around the bay, but it is too misty for good photos. A nice bowl of hot chicken soup in the hotel restaurant around the pool does the job of warming us up.    Tonight we have an included dinner and then we are packing up again to leave for Buenos Aires in the morning - sorry we haven't really seen the Shanty towns to experience the other side of Rio as we had a glimpse on our way in - maybe tomorrow as we go to the airport we will get a better ...

          ... Samba music and went for a walk around Lapa. It was an early night as we had to be up at 3am to head to the airport for our 6.40am flight to LA!
