... we went to the Vatican and went into St. Peter's Basilica, sadly I did not have enough time for the Sistine Chapel because I left that night and did not want to miss my flight. However, we climbed 551 steps to the top of the basilica for only 5 euro! It looked over the entire city and was quite possibly the coolest experience I have had thus far...very comparable to the Eiffel ...

... it was yesterday.....clearly because of the heat. At 2pm it was a sweltering oven. Luckily we were not in it for long, and out lecture about the arch of Septimius Severus was given in shade of the Tabularium which afforded us a great view down on the arch. That talk was given by a professor from Tulane who is an expert on art from the Severan period.
After that lecture we went into the Musei Capitolini to see some sculpture and portraiture. ...
