1. Belt - This leather belt will be used for holding my trousers (or anything else) in place. I probably could have found lighter weight belts to take but this particular one belonged to my Dad. Since his death in 1993 it has been mine and it just seemed appropriate to keep it close by ...
Well after a good nights sleep, well I did but Martyn woke up complaining bitterly that he was kept awake by another form of wind from Leigh? we woke up to.. yes you guessed it, RAIN! but with the added benefit of of strong winds with gusts up to gale force strength..nice!
Once everyone had checked out of the Motel we set off for Glasgow on the scenic route via Otterburn & Haywick, stopping for breakfast at the very friendly Percy Arms in Otterburn ...

One to keep me safe, one to bring me luck and one for love, so pls keep your fingers and toes crossed I find it lol!!! 3 girl friends popped round with bubbly and mags which always come in handy and then my cuz Becca popped round for a last good luck hug.

... town. We were able to drive the Ambleside and Crook and saw some of the stunning country side. Many stone cottages and fences, lovely valleys and hills. Unfortunatley it was not the weather for any walking which is one of the main attractions of the area.
Had a very relaxing weekend and a stunning meal at Postillion resturant. 28 years! where has it gone.
Yet more car trouble was on the horizon for Sunday morning. Sherpa had managed to turn his car on, then somehow knock the locking system as he was getting out, just as the door blew shut. Sherpa was now locked out of his running car. Several resourceful hikers spent some considerable time trying to poke the switch on the dashboard with a long pole through the bent window seal. Fun.

The entire route wouldn't be more than 2-3 miles, but in our present state, that was quite far enough. The road was flooded in places - easily calf deep. Eartha avoided the worst of it, by walking along the top of a dry stone wall (dry? Ha!) while I made a foolhardy dash for it through the flood. Needless to say I got even ...
Little Langdale, England, United Kingdom rachelkwTow truck 2, turns up at 15:29 and we are off again for the next leg of the journey, Stirling Services to Lancaster Services. This journey takes around 4 hours and I have a nice chat with the driver, Jim all the way. We phone ahead and arrange the next tow truck to meet us at Lancaster at 19:15, guess what? Yes, it wasn't there and I am told it won't be there until 20:15 and it finally arrives at 20:30
Lancaster, England, United Kingdom peterward... children’s novelist. It was a really idyllic English house with creeping vines and a nice garden and much of the original furniture from the period. You could see the influence the house and garden had on Potter’s work as well.
After visiting the house Leah was a little more appeased. It was starting to get late, so we took a drive around some of the aforementioned little one lane roads, weaving through the aforementioned lush greenery. It was all very nice, although not ...
... shops with an awesome view of a huge lake at the end. We had some lunch outside at a little Italian place & watched the people with their dogs as they passed by. A beautiful day. We wandered down to the lake & walked along the trails that have been created by the thousands of people that want to feast their eyes on the endless landscapes. We had an ice cream from one of the crowded shops. I must preface by mentioning that when English folk ...

I upload a few picture from there and if you know where it is, please tell me. Anyway, on our way back, we dropped by Lakeside Motor Museum. I was not interested antique cars exhibited in the museum, but John really was.
