... staff keeping the food stocked, which they don't, so you end up having to wait for something to be cooked while something else gets cold. Just about the end of the first movie, a carload of teenagers rolled in, backed up onto a ramp, and shone their headlights right into our car. They did not turn them off, and when I went to ask them to do so, I got a lot of guff, including an argument that "my lights are off," which they patently ...

Nachitoches weather

She also taught us the difference between the morning libation and the evening cocktail. She served her guests frosty glasses of special "Milk Punch". A potent mix of frozen milk, rum, brandy and ...

Our first stop was the Oakland Plantation which has 17 of the original buildings remaining. It is a National Historic Park and is one of only two such farms west of the Mississippi. There was a free tour of the main house and self-guided tour of the balance of the property. Next stop was the Melrose Plantation. Only a few ...

... course resulting in a 36 mile long oxbow lake known as the Cane River. When it changed from a river port it gave rise to cotton kingdoms along the river. The affluent owners had plantation homes as well as elegant houses in the town. The fact that it became isolated resulted in the preservation of its heritage. The town shares French, Spanish, African and Anglo-Saxon ...
