    Wonderful place!

Everything was wonderful. Jim and Sandy were very attentive to our needs without being intrusive. The mansion was beautiful and we enjoyed feeling like we had stepped back in time. We left feeling like we had made new friends and we will definitely be back in the future and recommend the Beall to friends who are looking for a unique getaway!

    An overwhelming experience

The Beall Mansion is a unique Bed & Breakfast and offers an atmosphere no Five Star Hotel could compete with.

The owners Jim and Sandy were wonderful hosts and made us feel right at home.

The furnishing and the decoration of the whole house with antiques is amazing and one of a kind.

We enjoyed our stay very much and are definitely planning another stay at the Beall Mansion.

    Magnificen Experience

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at the BEALL MANSION. Our room was wonderful - beautifully decorated. So much attention to detail. Our hosts were wonderful and charming - and completely accomodating. We've never had such a pampered experience. The breakfast in bed is to die for. We plan on expeiencing the BEALL again and again.

    Wonderful experience!

We were so very impressed with our stay at the Beall Mansion.

The furnishings were beautiful and our host's knowledge of the history of the house was impressive and interesting.

I highly recommend the Beall Mansion for anyone who enjoys a unique and memorable experience.

    Great Gateway!

Our gateway at the Beall Mansion was excellent, I highly recommended anyone wanting a pampered experience back in time, to visit the Beall Mansion. It's a beautifully maintained property, full of rich history! Jim was there to greet us in a butler uniform, with a glass of Chardonay and a tour of the interior of the mansion. A very nice touch which makes the stay more meaningful knowing the history of the home. Both Jim and Sandy made us feel very comfortable.

We had a great time! Very peaceful and tranquile without our three lovely children!

    Relaxation at it's best

The stay at the Beall Mansion was a wonderful experience. The owners Jim and Sandy were so helpful. They envite you into their wonderful home and pamper you while your there. As for the home. You have to see it to believe it.

    Elegance at the Beall

We recently renewed our vows at the Beall. Both my husband and I travel all the time, I have to say that the Beall experience was the best weekend we ever had the pleasure of visiting.

The owners, Jiim and Sandy Belote were not only warm, charming and delightful to be around, but they offer services beyond description. This was a "white glove" treatment from the moment we booked the occasion until check out. The nexy day there was a personal note for us. We're reday to book for a birthday in November.

Since I can't say much more about how accomadating the Bolote were, I can say the chanpagne and flutes, the choclates on your night stands in a fabulous suite of over 520 ft. felt amazing.

    Elegant there is an understatment,

    Wedding Day

We highly recommend staying at the Beall Mansion in Alton IL. The mansion is breath taking and guests are treated like royalty. Our wedding day was the most romantic day of our lives, and we have Jim and Sandy to thank for taking such good care of us on our special day.

Problematic, less than it could have been

Not a great experience; room and house cluttered with stuff, mattress uncomfortable, shampoo and conditioner offered was economy-size plastic Suave bottles left open. Hardware for shower came away in my hand, towels thin and worn. Huge list of rules, some understandable like no candles, but others just cranky like no red wine allowed in room. Beautiful old mansion, but common rooms seem more for show than for guest's use. Was quiet, though, which was one of the reasons we chose to stay here. Can't comment on food since only coffee was offered on our room plan. Overall I think hosts should give more thought to how the guest experience feels and looks from check in to check out.

    Luxury and relaxation

We wish we had been able to stay longer; the service at the Beall was more than we could have asked for. The accomodations were luxurious and we can't wait to visit again.

    Bye Bye Missouri, Hello Mississippi

Another day spent mostly in the the car! But we saw beautiful little towns between green rolling hills. We left Jefferson City after a quick stop at the capitol. Our goal was to find the old Route 66. In Missouri (and in a lot of other states) this mythic highway has been replaced by the interstates or by newer roads, but there are still parts of the original route existing. We eventually ...

In about three hours time, various family, in-laws and friends keep showing up and it's like a big family reunion where you know you know these people but you can't remember names. So I apologize for not remembering names and who belongs to who. Needless to say like every other time I get welcomed into a home in Australia I feel like family too. We poke fun of each ...

... only a few blocks, a brisk walk in the elements and we were inside at the Arch. This is an amazing feat of engineering and well worth the visit if you ever find yourself in St Louis, we paid $14 for a trip to the top and a movie on the building of the Arch so incredibly affordable. Atlanta, Illinois, was small and cute and just like a small town with one main street and a town square should be. I wouldn't have minded poking around there for a bit, but we will find others when we are maybe not so behind on the day's drive. I bought a stamp for Mum's first postcard here anyway.

My special treat to myself today was to stand on both ends of the original Route 66 that now disappears in to Springfield Lake - an enormous man made reservoir ...
