The morning kicked off with further disappointment in the hot shower department and the discovery that the little supermarket close to us was not so early to open and provide us with breakfast.       ... The name conjures up visions of movie stars on yachts, but when we dock all of the people look just like us. Maybe this spectacular place is past it's prime. Then we reach the top of the hill and the centre of town. Hmm - this hotel looks like a nice spot for a weekend break. Seven thousand euros per night? Oh, that includes breakfast? Let's just soak up the fantastic views, window shop and buy one of those famous lemon drinks.

      ... getting a bottle of champers shouted for his birthday and I organized one of the 'huge' birthday cakes they supply on the ship. We finished up there about 8.30pm and just the two of us had a small meal before heading for our cabins.
      Richard and Wendy had asked our cabin steward to put a few balloons inside the room and when we got back there were about 12 balloons stuck to the ceiling and walls. Lovely.

      ... the areas were. There were some great buildings that housed the baths that would have just been so beautiful and lavish in their day. There were castings of Bodies as they were found after the eruption.
      Brad went into a little room and tried looking through a hole in the block wall which was just above his height to see out. On pulling himself up he knocked the blocks down on his face. He came out looking hilarious with a muddy face but we didn't know ...

      ... very beautiful with original frescoe paintings on the ceilings in which are really high, with a little terrace that looks out to a busy "via santa maria di constantinapoli". we met with shawns parents for dinner. i had some amazing pasta with veal meatballs that was super delicious. i am happy so far that the portion sizes are quite small so i am not stuffing myself silly. we had some sicilian wine and a beautiful ricotta pear torte for dessert. ...
