In amongst all this, at street level....the scooters! Now being a bike rider, I know that it is extremely unlikely that you would get hit by one because they know what they are doing so I was really comfortable moving through the backstreets while they zoomed about darting left and right looking for a way through. It is obvious that kids are brought up with scooters as many are riding on the back with their mothers who go no slower ...

... was the Mayoress. I, of course, was the baker and practiced grinding wheat on the stone grinders. Janet was the genial innkeeper and John tended to repairs on the delivery carts. Pompeii was much larger than I had thought and we only managed to cover a fraction of the site in our two-hour visit.
