... After getting an oil change and a few provisions, we are off camping and kayaking north of Yellowknife using the Ingraham Trail as jump-off points.

Stay tuned for further updates…

Tidbits:
- NWT (and Alberta) have horrendous prices on booze; a case of twenty four beer goes for fifty-two dollars and a cheap bottle of wine is fifteen dollars.
- Bogie and I can hardly wait to try our new twenty pound test spider-wire and rubber fish
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada tombuttle... just left all your luggage in a heap and knew it would be there when you returned. The cab ride to town was short and the first big building you see is a Staples. The driver was from Sudan and had been in Y'knife for three years. He told me he had only intended to stay for a year. I joked that maybe in ten years he might consider it his home. We loaded up a large luggage dolly and wheeled it into the Nova Court. I ...
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada cindyloohoo... clothes and headed straight to town, past an energy plant that sounded like there were screaming monkeys being turned into pure atomic energy. We cried a little inside just to know that this might be happening in a country as free and responsible as Canada. But for all of our concern, we continued on our merry way into town. Keith's hairdresser told us to find the giant eggrolls, so we stopped at the tourist office and asked the man there where to get them ...
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada starlagurl... a 15 dollar campsite, which we later found out had train tracks near by we lead to a lot of load crashing sounds throughout the evening. Day 5 the home stretch. This is probably the first time in a long time i was really looking forward to going home. We stopped in peace river for some lunch and took in some Canada day festivities and finished the trip, Roughly 3200km. We did all this for 167 dollars a person not bad eh?
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada senorbrianAnd we're off... It was a brisk -35 when we said good-bye to Pepsi and left home. We handed Revi our winter jackets before we went through security and of course, the plane was at the far end of the runway. The guy at the gate was pretty nice and he let us wait in the building until everyone else had boarded, then we could make a run for it to ...

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada lecklund... Ridge Rest Area, where the entire horizon was a series of cragged mountain peaks. Now how many people in Canada have seen this unforgettable sight? Shortly thereafter, I descended a steep stretch of road covered in snow and ice. At that point, I was overtaken with grave concerns about my ability to gain enough traction to climb back up this steep hill on my way back. The only way I could assuage my trepidation was to tell myself that I was going to buy tire ...
Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories, Canada lobo... Reserve, Kakisa, Nahanni Butte and Trout Lake. The last two communities are only accessible by air and ice roads in the winter. Each community is known by its own First Nations name. For instance the Deh Cho of Fort Simpson is known as the Lllidi Koe First Nation. They belong at the same time to the Deh Cho First Nation and the Denne people. The language spoken is Slavi. This year's festival will feature: story telling performances with ...

Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada axbaby... our overnight trip and had enough food for the whole day. Our bigger concern was really for Chuck and Hooman, because not only was it bad for them work-wise that we were in this predicament (it isn't usual for pilots to charter planes from their company for fun and this would certainly put an end to that practice for others) but it was compounded because we had gone outside normal protocol and didn't let the airline dispatch know that we had changed destinations in ...
