Despite booking the bikes online, only one bike bag was available from Air Transat. Eleanor ran to the other end of the terminal to Air Canada and got another bag from them. I got my prep on my bike done. One of Eleanor's pedals would not come off though. Off she went again to the Info desk and managed to track down an airport maintenance guy who showed up with manly tools after about 20 minutes of waiting and a page. I did so much on Vancouver island; whale watching, went to markets, mosied round Victoria and took in the scenery, but it was still the most relaxing time thanks to Louise and Stuart (and Lola) with whom I stayed at Cowichan Valley. They're lovely, amazingly hospitable people, and Lola's the cutest, most well behaved, affectionate dog! Louise is the sister of someone I use to work with, luckily he put in a good word for me!

Best sweeties tasted so far (sweetest first): Jolly Ranchers (turn your tongue all sorts of colours) Gobstoppers (jaw breaking and tasty) Maynards sour babies (literally strip the skin off your mouth!)

We shall update these lists and add new ones as our travels continue. Tomorrow we go out for an adventure in Victoria!
