Then onto San Diego Safari Park and
some hotter weather than we were used to. It's a lot of walking and a
little frustration reading the map as there seemed to be dead ends

... well actually the desert does have cactus, Joshua trees, shrubs and stubby bushes and is surprisingly greenish but I'm guessing it's because we're seeing it in February. Julian is a real cute place, old wooden buildings and lots of tourist stuff, most especially pies, apple, apple with loganberry, with boysenberry (my favourite) and of course every other variation of fruit or nut but no meat ones I'm afraid. ...
... The courthouse is a spanish revival style, and looks like the missions and similar buildings of old. It has open corridors and a clock tower that we climbed to view the town. It was a gorgeous old building and very different from the architectural styles back east. It was worth the visit.
