... paddle out and catch a few and just get the arms paddling again. The conditions were not the best but just getting into the ocean - which was freezing by-the-way - made my skin feel alive again. It was a little eerie out there knowing the great whites are all over the place but we didn't care. We hung out, collected amazing shells, and walked up and down the beach. We both know we will plan a trip back here one day - and try ...

Went to the beach for a while but it was sooooooooooooooo windy!!!! ...

It was so nice seeing him - totally weird since I was in his home town - and we had a good chat where I filled him in about my trip so far, and he got me up to speed with all the gossip from work at home.

After he left (6 cocktails later) I joined the boys on the nearby table and we ...

Finally time to surf J Bay

After years of watching, dreaming, and drooling over the fabled right hand tubes of J-Bay as a young buck, I finally had the opportunity to surf the place myself.

To assure I'd catch a decent swell, I gave myself a couple weeks time to allow for a south swell to broil and hit the coast of South Africa. There were a couple fun, head-high days both clean and a bit windy, and then a few ...
