    ... Shore Beach and headed down to Orange Beach. As we settled down on the white sands a huge storm suddenly appeared on the horizon and within minutes we were engulfed in torrential rain which was as warm as a bath. The kids couldn't care less and continued to swim in the sea while Lee and I huddled in the car. Within ten minutes it had passed. Crazy weather! It has been great visiting Alabama which is very much a less well trodden tourist state but nonetheless lovely. Next stop ...

    ... was time to stop for lunch in Gulf Shores Ala. Great pictures, shrimp salad and an ice cold beer. I only had 80 miles or so to Bayou La Batre, Ala. With the sun shining, I headed north to 98 west again to then Scenic 98.

    ... gas after150 miles and checked the weather again. Still iffy as far as beating the rain. However, once we got into Louisiana things changed rapidly. First of all, I-10 became very rough to ride on. It was a bladder buster above 65 MPH. The road and bridges are in desperate need of repair. Then just short of the Pearl River at Mile Marker 144 traffic stopped dead on I-10. Now what? We saw a sign that said "Road Construction Next 2 Miles". That must be the reason for the halt in ...
