We drove to the UP (Michigan talk for Upper Peninsula) and enjoyed visiting St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. These areas are like others we’ve seen with cute main streets and lots of restaurants and shops. The Mackinaw Bridge was interesting to go across. ... of shrimp and clams. Unfortunately, on the way back to the RV we hit a deer and it did some damage to the front of my car. We can still drive the car. It will have to wait to get fixed until we get home in November. The deer it did not fare so well.

... hopefully for the last time until we hit Dad's place in about four days), then headed home for the evening.  Both coming and going, we got caught by the drawbridge in Charlevoix.  The bridge goes up and down on the half hour to allow boats too big to pass under it access to and from Lake Michigan. After dinner, Mike lit a Swedish log candle that Chris had brought with him from Watkin's Glen.  This ingenious little device consisted of about an 18 inch section of hardwood ...
