Had the good fortune to be invited to participate in a pure bred Angus aution. Cows in this part of the world spend their life grazing hundreds of acres. These farms dominate the Northern Virginia, Shenandoah Valley landscape. I have grown up with family members farming and never really had an idea for the value of these animals, the value of the land they are grazing and the science of farming beef cattle-until today.

I had enough of waiting in line after that so I caught a shuttle to the Metro parking lot and headed home. It was really disappointing this year.
