We arrived at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro on the
hotel shuttle. The boarding
process went pretty smoothly with the exception of a few line-ups but we were
on-board by 1:00 p.m. – just in time for lunch.

We set off slightly later than hoped but John calculated we should be there around dusk. It was a lovely journey. The sea was calm, the winds were light and we motored all the way. ... enjoyed looking at these memorials and taking pictures of them. I especially felt connected to the Merchant Marine memorial as my grandfather (on my mother's side) was a Merchant Marine. Unfortunately, I never got to meet him because he died before I was born.
At 12 noon we boarded the shuttle at the hotel to take us to the port so we could start the process of boarding our cruise ship - The Star.
