      ... Every meal you had a choice of 4 dishes, soup or salad and two desserts. For lunch and dinner there were two sittings and you had to choose which one and breakfast you could arrive any time. We feasted like kings. Every time you went into the dining car you were seated with different people so we ended up meeting most of the passengers who got on at the beginning.

      Winnipeg was hot. In hindsight I suppose it wasn't that hot as we have now been to hotter places but for a Norwegian caterpillar in Canada it was hot. We were off the train and at our accommodation early which allowed us the rest of the day to explore Winnipeg and feel how hot it was. I don't know how they cope. People must stay for the lovely winters which become but a distant memory to be cherished during the terrible summers.

      ... We saw long horned sheep, white tailed deer, and elk. The deal was if you saw any animal, you yelled out to look at which ever hour of the clock it was. There were many groupings of deer then the elk came into view. This ditsy blonde yank yells out in a loud voice an elk at 3 o'clock - but unfortunately for her it was only a huge brown rock- and boy did everyone take the ****.....
