    Kuta Culture

Kuta and culture aren't known for being synonymous. Bali's party town is subject to a bad rap by many as being a raucous, drunken holiday destination that will acquaint you with more Aussies than locals. It is also seen as somewhat removed from traditional Balinese culture which is true to a degree but as this is what I expected I didn't feel let …

... the pool at our hotel, the sea has quite big waves on the beach here, great for the surfers, not so much for a refreshing wee swim, I think I’ll stick to the pool for now. I have been downloading a lot of great podcasts (CBC, NPR, New ...

Roads are basically a free-for-all, so you have to be bold to get by (both as a driver and a pedestrian). The first time we went to cross the street a local had to yell at us to just "put [our] hands out and they will stop." This city is not good for our blood pressure. I also wasn't prepared ...

    A month of Bali life.

... beautiful food and conversation each day and this month in Bali has made me more determined than ever before to go out and experience more of this.

After a while it no longer feels as if you are traveling. I have spent the past 11 months in Asia now and it feels more as if it has been by home than a place I have traveled around and that's a nice feeling. To feel that you are part of daily life somewhere randomly in the world. Eventually though the days in ...
