So these are a few of my favourite things... I was so excited for Austria, because I knew we would get to do the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg, where they filmed the musical back in 1964. Today was the first day we have slept in past 7 am and saw a little sun shine! It was so nice. We took it easy this morning by walking around the entire city (not hard to do, it is a small place) before heading to our tour of the Bavarian Alps! I love it here! We spent the morning on a city tour. There was only one nice person on our tour. I even asked the guide about their medical system to consider living here for a bit. ... son, WA Mozart. His houses are named with plaques and his statue stands in the centre of the square that bears his name. Even if you didn’t see any of these, the contents of many of the shops would let you know this was Mozart’s city: almost every kind of souvenir bears his name/his picture/his music/his initials and there are cafes and restaurants named after him etc etc.

... Cathedral where Mozart worked and played and went on a tour through the Cathedral museum and also went under the Cathedral to see the ruins of an earlier Roman cathedral which had been preserved.

In the evening we had some street food (schnitzel burger and sausages with chips) and sat outside in front of a huge screen with hundreds of other people watching a live screening of the opera Falstaff - it was free, and absolutely amazing to sit ...
