... we had a lot of luggage. Yeah, so maybe 70 percent of the stuff was mine. When you have to pack for hot and cold weather, hiking, charity dinners and SoCal shopping.....you get the picture. We always carry luggage scales on our trips. My suitcase always approaches the limit.

Our flight did not leave Birmingham, AL until 12:30 pm, so we had plenty of time to finish last minute packing and take our dog to the kennel. The worst part of every trip is saying goodbye ...

We have a tough section between Hanksville and Blanding and want to be sure to be ...

... on this hike in recent years, this excursion will test my strength and courage. I will be forced to cross waist-high water dozens of times, which will accelerate my leg fatigue. Also, I will meet a bunch of nature lovers and other die hard backpackers and mountain climbers. I do not want to get intimidated by their determination and total passion for what they are probably going to be doing better than I am. Lastly, I hope the novelty won't wear off.

... of other bikers on the road, heading for Sturgis which starts on Monday. There was a large military group here at the hotel, not long after we arrived and checked in.

We had a late lunch in an Asian buffet house with everything from all cultures you could imagine for the princely sum of $8.99 each.

Stopped and checked out the local Pawn shop - there was guns galore and a mirade ...
