... we had a lot of luggage. Yeah, so maybe 70 percent of the stuff was mine. When you have to pack for hot and cold weather, hiking, charity dinners and SoCal shopping.....you get the picture. We always carry luggage scales on our trips. My suitcase always approaches the limit.
Our flight did not leave Birmingham, AL until 12:30 pm, so we had plenty of time to finish last minute packing and take our dog to the kennel. The worst part of every trip is saying goodbye ...

A thin layer of water was trickling over the edge of the rocks, reflecting the sunshine onto the wall behind. The heat of the day was searing, and standing under the droplets of water was the refreshing break we had craved since entering the park.

... through single lane tunnels cut through the canyon walls. It was staggering the immensity of this canyon, how could this be topped? Onto our lunch stop in Kanab. We saw Big Horn Sheep on the hills as we passed through, I think we have seen just about every kind of animal except for bears and moose. We were told to have a big breakfast because we all agreed to have lunch off our own batt at Frontier/Movie Town, Kanab at 2.00 pm. On arrival we were bearded into ...
... and I only made it about half way, those two short miles took us almost double the time it would take to simply walk them. We took our time, stopped for a snack and thoroughly enjoyed the journey.
The Narrows has been on my wish list of things to do for a long time. Although I am glad I was able to hike there, I am by no means satisfied (and neither is my mom). This was one of the most fun and amazing hikes I have ever ...
