Type A nightmare, but so interesting
The streets of Old Delhi are crowded and chaotic. We are so glad we had someone to drive us around. This is a city of 16 million and we barely touched the surface.
Delhi and an introduction to India
Our first sight of Delhi was chaotic! We came through Arrivals and were greeted with hoards of plaques with small, handwritten, very faint names written on them. With a huge crowd behind us and a sea of boards, we decided to each look on a different side to identify our transfer. Spotted, the tansfer guy shook our hands and led us out through a …
Travelling at last
What a relief to get on the plane. Only last minute panic was leaving the fleece in the car ! Even did my e-mails by signing into a cyber cafe in departures. Will be designing web signs next!- I dont think so !
Flight uneventful if you ignored the howling children and all arrangements to meet and greet me in place.Different sort of taxi ride …
Hello India
We arrived at Delhi airport there were amazingly colorful paintings, big golden plates and Indian hand symbols.
We were collected by a nice smiley man who took us to our taxi.
It was a boiling 23 degrees compared to London's -4degrees, and very sunny even though it is winter.
The taxi man said 'in summer it is 45 degrees Celsius'!
I …
Delhi can Kiss my AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Okay, last I left it we were in Agra finishing up two full days and nights there – after much research and the realization that we (actually I/ME – because Kelly didn't do anything to plan but just joined me) did not plan properly for our trip – we headed back to Delhi. Trains were SOLD OUT – everywhere we wanted to go. Add …

TravelPod Member ReviewsBajaj Indian Home Stay New Delhi
We were wiped out when we finished our 24 hour journey to Delhi, so what we wanted was comfort and convenience. Our room was pleasant and we were able to eat our meals at the hotel without feeling like we were missing out on decent local food. The metro station was a five minute walk . We were innundated with pushy tuk-tuk drivers as we left our door, but it was all good practice for our upcoming travel through India. If you want something less insulated than a international 5 star hotel, this is a good place to land.

We originally stayed at Pallvi Palace - avoid at ALL COSTS. Someone tried to enter our room 3 different times during the night. Then rang doorbell twice -- if they really needed to reach us they would have called from the front desk so we know it was someone with less than stellar reasons for bothering us. My friend had his earphones on and I could hear 1-2 men standing outside our door the entire night. AVOID.
On the contrary - Bajaj Indian Home Stay -- very clean, excellent food, incredibly friendly staff, and guard on duty will walk you to your car and keep the rickshaw/taxi touts away when you go outside. They are informed and will make phone calls for reservations - we went to Dances of India - kind of touristy but where else can you see 8 different cultural dances of India in one place. Highly recommend Bajaj Indian Home Stay.
