... and Tatty told us the history behind them so it was really nice that we had a sort of personal tour guide as well!!
We have visited many areas around the city and there is a lot to see and do. In Recoletta we went to the cemetory and saw Evita´s grave which was a somewhat eerie experience as you can see the coffins in the tombs. In San Telmo we spent several hours wandering ...
... 8216;real’ caminito, what it was in the past, and how it has become an artificial Disneyesque tourist trap. While once this touristy strip of a block and a half in the harbour side of town had some true history and credence now it has been transformed by businessmen into a falsified taste of mock-tango. Behind the painted facades is the story of families who have been pushed and shoved out or even burned out, as I heard, to make way for the ...
Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina cornflake... to pay a $6.55 grocery total with $7, and got yelled at for not having the correct change. Sheesh! Also, Portenos - as the people from Buenos Aires like to be called - don't like to wait in line. They push, they shove, they elbow, but they don't wait. All that said, this is a great city full of history and culture, and it's easy to see why people love it so much.
Early start tomorrow for a daytrip to Colonia. The trip's almost over, sadly. Gotta make the most of the last couple of days.
... caramel with cake.. yum) - Walking the city, stopping for coffee at any of the tree line streets and chiling in the sunshine - Forget the crowds at San Telmo market, head to Palermo square for BsAs coolest characters on a Sunday, order cheese platters, beers and enjoy - Gourmet Empanada´s (address: Guemes 3566).. OMG, until you try you won´t believe it.. and only a few pesos for each one.. they´re heaven in pastry casing
Buenos Aires, Argentina kc2009... we would have the last laugh as the stadium absolutely erupted when River scored the winning goal on a PK in the 93rd minute! It was sensational and capped what was easily one of the top sporting experiences of my life. Mary, the lucky girl she is, was in attendance of her first ever big-time futbol match. After the game ended, the fanfare died down, and the entire Popular section was held in the stadium while the ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina chiapoeIt doesn't take long before you come to understand Buenos Aires. It just makes sense. Within hours of arriving in Palermo (the district in which Lattitude had arranged a hostel for us) we were eating Pizza in the open air under the shade of one of the numerous trees. The first word that comes to mind when describing Buenos Aires is 'Green'. Every street is lined with expansive trees, shading the paths and houses from the unforgiving sun and turning this potentially polluted desert city ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina danm1986... there was a huge parade with loads of dancers and samba schools, very colourful and noisy! It was an amazing coincidence too, as we did´nt even know that it was happening until we arrived there! We are just off out for lunch now (probably steak again!) and to do a bit of shopping, as my flip flops have gone missing, and they are truly essential summer footwear! Chau Chris and Matt
Buenos Aires, Argentina chrishodson... owner at 1:00 AM with everyone else at our hostel about him filming them in the shower.
Seeing a man pee in the middle of Santiago's city plaza with 1,000s of people sitting around.

... from a book I had read on the trip that said "it was getting very late and close to very early"...so we wrote the note, paid the bill and set out into the breezy Porteno night. On the sidewalk, we said goodbye to our new friends, promising that we would see them again, one way or another. Walking home for the last time, E.B. and I quietly took it all in. Waking up the next morning, we got our things together and gave the apartment a thorough cleaning. For our final meal ...
