... the valley and is flanked on either side by the beautiful farms with their lovely farmhouses and vineyards with the cultivated hills providing a pisturesque backdrop. We popped in to a few little farms before deciding to do a bit of wine tasting at the fairly hip V Sattui Winery. For USD 15 we were served 6 different tastings by Bill, a retired liquor salesman who was working behind the tasting bar. The wines were fine.. not great, but not ...
... this far!
The weather has been cold at night, but lovely during the day. In past January trips we had to deal with mud and rain, so the drought is kind of a plus for us right now. Long term, not such a good thing, but the nice weather has made this trip much easier.
The Tiki Bar is currently out of order so we are about to head down to our pal Rosie’s house with a bottle of wine, and we will have us a nice Sunday afternoon ...

Maljenko Grgich, Hall of Fame vintner, is one of those responsible for helping put Napa Valley ...
... Our incredible neighbors, Harry & Nancy not only invited us for the customary Sunday morning Waffles, they had us over for a fish fry party that evening. It was wonderful! They catch the fish during their winters in Baja, and feast on it the rest of the year. I met some great new folks and we had a blast. And the FISH was deLISH!! Stay tuned for the next installment of the Monte Rio Saga when it continues in November.
Be well and happy!
