Charming Chiang Mai
"Head north, young woman!" I heeded that call and hopped a train to ride the rails to Chiang Mai a couple of days ago. I opted for the train over a flight as I thought it would be interesting to see the countryside from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. I was right - it was amazing to see hours of rice paddies and then the landscape gradually changed to …
Chiang Mai - Oh My!
There's just so much to describe in this lovely city! I'm happy to report that the ongoing explosive fireworks and firecrackers have all but stopped as the Festival of Lights finished last night! My next door neighbor, the evil rooster, even relaxed his torture regime this morning. He managed to control his need to strut around and crow at the top …
Coolest......Day......Ever!!
Every now and then, you have one of those days that makes you feel glad to be alive and reaffirms that we live in a magical, wonderful world! I spent today at an incredible spot - the Elephant Nature Park north of Chiang Mai.

Cooking Oil, Massage Oil and Snake Oil
I've spent the last couple of days chillaxing here in Chiang Mai and enjoying what the city has to offer. First off, I spent a day at a cooking school - there are dozens of cooking schools and classes here in the city where your group can go shopping in the outdoor markets for ingredients, learn about the different vegetables, fruits, sauces and …
Bye Bye Chiang Mai
Last lovely day in Chiang Mai - another steamy, sunny and hot day and a great day to walk around and check out some more temples and neighborhoods. After breakfast in the garden this morning, I set out to explore some of the sois (lanes or small roads) near my B&B. There are tons of shops and restaurants all around me. Just across the moat from …

TravelPod Member ReviewsBaan Hanibah Chiang Mai
Given the price range in Chiang Mai, this place would be a little on the high side. That would be based on what we heard about other, similar, accommodations. That said, the rooms were perfectly suitable and the breakfast was great. The one real shortfall here was that the otherwise wonderful staff knew little or nothing about the city or how best to tackle it. We had to venture out and learn on our own and, frankly, when we came back and shared our what-every-visitor-should-know intelligence with our innkeepers, they didn't seem to care at all. I think they need to work on this.
