A travel blog entry by johncowell on Aug 07, 2015

Today Ruth and I took a canoe on the lake. We wanted to explore it more close to the coast. It was great fun apart from the burden on your shoulders. After an hour of paddling, our shoulders and forearms were worn out. We then had a relaxing afternoon by the pool, followed by a last supper at home before moving on to ...

... at a most inopportune moment. When we arrived in Como, even I needed a strong drink. Como was very busy with people out shopping. Seems every attraction in Europe needs a claim of a world record to be taken seriously by the tourist market. We brought our tickets and climbed the stairs to our carriage. The track is at a 48% gradient, and so the train itself is sloped to accomodate. The 30 minute trip up went ...

... village is, well, a village. Much like the others we have seen but actually quite flat - a rarity in these areas. The reindeer and wild boar here for the tourists was quite interesting. Just the two of us on the way down. We find the girls and the funeral has finally finished, but they did have to overstay their time in the carpark while waiting for the hearse to move. Back home via the car ferry and Bellagio again where we enjoy a dinner of cheese, salami, bread, olives etc. and ...
