... and we were able to put what we had learned in Italy to good use as we admired great works and had a 'which painting do we like better than the Mona Lisa' contest. The kids were all very interested to see the famed work by di Vinci, and had very interesting discussions about how and why a painting gets to be so well known, and so valuable.

For the next two days of our visit, the weather was absolutely miserable- windy, raining, ...

... you could sit and admire for as long as you wanted. Couldn’t settle on a favourite, but bought postcards of two that I really liked – and plan to put these up on my pinboard next to my desk at work, to remind me of paradise in Paris….sigh.

Getting late in the afternoon by now, so slowly made our way back to the apartment via multiple trains again. Still not loving the 7 flights of stairs after a long day out and about – but happy ...

... on being social. We then went on a bus drive around the city, which was amazing by night. Saw the big sights - the louvre, Eiffel Tower, arc de triomphe. We survived the champs ellysee ( thank god I was in a bus). I also really enjoyed seeing the less known buildings - the opera house, the tomb of Napoleon and the military building that still has bullet holes in the front walls from WWII. Next challenge: try and see as much of Paris as my body will allow me to ...
