Spring break woo!

A travel blog entry by belinda-ben

... we found out it was delayed until 6.15am the next morning. How annoying! We headed to the specified gate to find out what the story was. Slowly we were transferred to a bus and taken to a hotel for the night. They provided dinner. After sitting down and seeing how they were struggling to serve everyone and seeing one guy slip the waiter a $20 US note to get served we decided to cut our losses and head to bed ready for an early start in the ...

Day trip to Isla Mujeres

... bitten to death by sand flies. We take the first table closet to the beach on a decked area and spray our ankles with repellent just in case. The menu is a mixture of Mexican and other foreign dishes. The food we order isn't amazing but the view definitely is. It's happy hour so we sit with our cocktails watching the sun go down. The water is nice and warm, a bit cooler than Veracruz but still not cold. We ended up just setting up on the beach in front of ...

... that the scooter was a bit OTT if you know what I mean. I hardly got out of first gear and I was slamming on anchors for a corner or something.

On one of the other days we went snorkeling. It was some package deal that took us to the best spots around the island. The first place was really nice, but we found out that we had to wear life jackets whilst snorkeling as that is the law in Mexico. This made us furious. It's like being forced to wear sunglasses to ...

Mayan Ruins, Beach, and Tequila!

A travel blog entry by travellingross

... from atop the main temple.

I enjoyed roaming around the ruins, but would’ve loved to get up close more and touch them. I find it odd that you can wonder throughout Pompeii and the Egyptian Pyramids freely, but here you can’t even touch a stone. I consider Pompeii much more important to global history than Mayan ruins and surprised the Mexicans are so protective given their reputation for not exactly being law abiding citizens. Nevertheless, it ...
