Longest Train Ride Ever

... without sinking.  White dipped mountains stood all around the lake with clusters of wind energy mills turning slowly.  The train zipped by the edge of the ocean where small pink flamingos stood on one leg dipping their heads in the water.  In the middle of the ocean sat small islands with houses built upon them and I dreamed of living in one of these island houses, having to take a boat to shore to buy groceries.  Redish-brown tall grass shot up from the water ...

Lovely Lake Como

... good for what you pay!! And awesome for a backpacker!!
Went for drinks at Frank's Bar which Patrick who owns the hotel recommended. Turned out to be a pretty trendy cocktail joint
where you pay for your drink at 1 place then get it at another. 10 Euro for a beverage no matter what you had so naturally I ordered a long island ice tea!!!

... even after all of the churches I've seen on this trip.
Went to the famous La Scala, but we couldn't go inside as they werehaving a rehearsal at the time and unlike the Vienna Opera House couldn't get cheap standing tickets for a performance and wander freely around the inside at the same time.

half day sights of Milano

... Festival was set up outside the rear walls of the castle all of that week).

Wonderfully simple sidewalk lunch of crepes, and fresh fruit containers, not to mention the obligatory gelato!

Back to hotel by 2.30pm, with just enough time for a quick rum, before being collected (this time!) and whisked to the airport for our first main port of call....Palermo, Sicily!

The close of our trip

... is somewhat depressed in terms of the downtown area and shops. We did try to find some places to eat which were limited. A small bar on the piazza square was ok for lunch. Later we found a pizza place for dinner which was better. The weather was very warm and humid, but we were able to get a good night's sleep. June 29th Sunday We got up early and were driven to the ...

Milano ...

After Istanbul and Rome... even Venice looked dull .. so what do you say about Milan!

Though we did go to see the famous Leonardo Da Vince's Last Supper. For the nerds likes me, let me tell you that the painting is not on a canvas but on the wall of the church (don't remember the name of the church) ... the experience was Wow... it almost felt that you were having dinner with Jesus and his group .. its costs about 25Euro per person ...

Milan

... They are sold out for the day... so I thought I would get a reservation for my last day in Italy since I'm flying out of Milan. Ha... that's funny, because they are sold out THE ENTIRE MONTH OF APRIL!! Good times. A bit deflated, I started wondering seeing what I could find. Stumbled across a major road, and that led me to an old Military Castle turned cultural art center. The Castello Sforzesco. THis place was stunning and probably twice the size of ...

Italy- Day 7 and Final Day

Well, today has been quite a long day. We got up and took the 11:17 train to Milan. We finally arrived at 2:45. Of course we had to take another train to Bergamo. So we hopped on that one right away at 3:20. We arrived in Bergamo, confused on where to go. After some asking, we found bus 12. We were waiting for it and the city bus pulled in and told us that the airport bus would be there ...
