    So, we drove north and are now in Tuscany. We stopped at Orvieto, which is an Italian Hill Town. There are many hill towns in Tuscany and Umbria, particularly the former. They were built during the middle ages as defensive structures due to the constant small time warfare and raiding. So, this massive Roman Empire is reduced to sibling squabbling. But there are attractive sights left for us.

    ... and is still done by hand grinding /milling the olives between two huge stones to extract the oil . Very traditional. He was still waiting to pick his olives as he felt they weren't quite ready yet , so unfortunately we didn't see a press happening . His mill was amazing, lots of terracotta storage barrels in a deep underground cellar . Spotlessly clean , just waiting for those gorgeous green olives to start rolling in this year.

    ... us hey!!).Once you walk to the top of BagnoRegio, you catch your first view of Civita -the little crumbly village teetering on top of a layered cake , really does take your breath away.

    After a "healthy" trek across the bridge ,you reach the main entrance. It is impressive , a huge stone passageway, cut by the Etruscans 2,500 years ago and decorated in the 12th century with a Romanesque arch. Passing through ...

    ... good, and we have been back a few times to purchase !!!

    According to the gossip going around Panicale ,Patrizia Lamborghini has just sold the whole property - Winery and golf course to a large multinational company ( apparently from China )and their are big plans to develop and update. Just Hope the uniqueness of it will be retained and developed.

    Another little outing , close by to Panicale , in the little village of Pineta

    We decided to ask Katia , our "hostess with the mostess" , if she could organise a cooking lesson for us with a real italian Nonna . Alora , Certo , of course she could !!!!
