    Canoeing on the lake

A travel blog entry by johncowell on Aug 07, 2015

Today Ruth and I took a canoe on the lake. We wanted to explore it more close to the coast. It was great fun apart from the burden on your shoulders. After an hour of paddling, our shoulders and forearms were worn out. We then had a relaxing afternoon by the pool, followed by a last supper at home before moving on to ...

Been very busy last couple of days - just had time to catch up and I am a few days behind. We drove up to the local car ferry in Trezzamo The ferry was quick, we drove on and sat on the top deck for 10 minutes. When we arrived in Bellagio we had a lovely relaxing look round and a little shopping trip. We sat in the Hotel Du Lac ...

I'm on the move again today. Metro to Termini train station and fast train to Milan at 11am. Takes 3 hours. Speeds of around 248 kms an hour. My ears keep popping when we go through the tunnels. The terrain is very similar to down south. Rolling hills etc., with flat plains in between. I can't see so many olive trees though and there's a lot more grape vines. It still all looks very beautiful. Can't say for sure but the soil looks a lot more sandier than ...

... Duomo. Then we headed back to the train station via the metro again.

We needed lunch so we ate at….wait for it…McDonald’s in the train station. What was different was they had “easy order” computer kiosks where you could place and pay for your meal without waiting in line. We went to a real person though. Another difference was you had to pay 25 cents for a little package of ketchup. We’re learning that nothing is ever included in this ...
