... a bit tipsy. The walk up to our hostel didn't seem so daunting that night. It was a great ending to our day in Cinque Terre. We visited four out of five cities in one day! A quick repack and postcard writing and I was off to bed. An early morning tomorrow to make the train to Venice. From the Italian coast on the Mediterranean to the Adriatic, spanning the width of the country from west to east in one day. Hoping my planning will pay off but I know better by now to expect the unexpected.
Manarola, Italian Riviera, Italy t.rosile... we zoom zoomed through this dark tunnel there were splashes of light, and I saw the...OCEAN!
It gave my spirit such a lift it was incredible!
I got off the train, and made like a crazy person to the railing, and just soaked it into my brain, I didn't realize that I had missed the openness of space, I had been cooped up in these busy busy cites, and then in a valley where everything is bascially closing in ...
... and stopped for lasagna and cannolis for lunch and more photos in Manarola.
Cinque Terre was such an alluring excursion. The weather was perfect that day, as the locals had their laundry out drying from their windows high above the pedestrian walkways, the fishermen dropped their boats into the coves with a pulley to hunt for dinner, and we enjoyed a laid-back day.
Tuscan Riviera Portovenere
Had seen it on Getaway and looked very pretty.. Found a hotel with sea views and have spent 2 nights here resting , climbing around local castles… eating sleeping and watching the boats go in and out… not much English here but we are not hungry or thirsty so all going well….
Tomorrow we are off to the South of France.. 3 nights planned in Nice.. Really looking forward to it but have loved Italy…
... added a little bit of the cream sauce to my red sauce....ooh mannnnnnn i was in heaven. had my own primi and secondi right there with wine!!!! so i ate like a real person at the little table and then for the last amount that i realized was pointless to refrigerate as it wouldn't heat well i grabbed a plastic white chair and put it at the space just outside my door and sat and watch the sky turn darker and drank wine. all the while i had my little epson plugged in ...
Corniglia, Italy ritand... decided to just to the place Ada had indicated, and try to call her from there. Which we did, and found Ada, and she found her friend, so it all ended well. (except for the ring.) Her friend, Vanda, recommended a nice restaurant for us in Lirichi, so we went there to lick our wounds. The place turned out to have a fixed menu for 35E, that included 8 different appetizers with all kinds of seafood, three different main courses (again seafood), and a refillable ...
Lerici, Italy partnerinflight... day we started from Monterosso and walked to Vernazza- this was the longest and most difficult walk with the pathway quite steep and narrow in parts, but again the scenery along the way was spectacular. We were hot and hungry and thirsty by the time we reached Vernazza. On the final day we did the missing link- Corniglia to Vernazza ...
Monterosso, Italy travelinbuskers... t because I now extremely HATE the French. On the way to Cinque Terre we had to take a night train again. A smelly French man stole my (mom's) camera and £150 of mine. I had it in my purse underneath my pillow, underneath my head. He also store £75 of Molly's...her money was in her wallet, in her purse, in her backpack! This guy (unfortunatly) was a Pro. I cried ALL DAY LONG ... sad sad sad. I am ...
